Leverkusen, June 1, 2012 – Effective today, Wilhelm Oehlschläger takes over the position of Labor Director of Bayer Business Services GmbH in addition to his current responsibilities as head of Human Resources. He also becomes a member of the Executive Board. He succeeds Norbert Fieseler, who joined the Executive Board in 2006 and is now retiring.
Wilhelm Oehlschläger was born in Cologne in 1963. He completed a vocational training course as an office administrator with Bayer AG in Leverkusen in 1985. After studying business administration at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, he began his career with Bayer in 1990.
Oehlschläger has since held several management positions in various HR units of the Bayer Group. These included three years as HR Consultant for the Healthcare Division of Bayer Inc. in Toronto, Canada, and a further three years as Global HR Business Partner for the Consumer Care Division of Bayer HealthCare, based in Morristown, New Jersey, United States. Oehlschläger became head of Human Resources at Bayer Business Services on July 1, 2011. In this function he continues to report to Daniel Hartert, Chairman of the Executive Board of Bayer Business Services.
Fieseler was born at Hüls, near Krefeld, Germany, in 1953. He studied business administration at Cologne University, graduating in 1979. The same year he joined Bayer as a finance and accounting trainee in Leverkusen. His first international assignment took him to Pittsburgh in the United States.
From 1997 onward he focused on general management, first serving as Chief Administration and Financial Officer of Bayer S.A. in São Paulo, Brazil, a position he held from 1997 until 2000. Then, after being reassigned to Leverkusen for six months to assist with the reorganization of the finance and accounting functions, Fieseler spent four years at Bayer Italia, latterly as Executive Officer. In mid-2005 he became head of Agency Business and Administrative Coordination in the Regional Coordination department of the Corporate Center in Leverkusen. Effective June 1, 2006, Fieseler was appointed a member of the Executive Board and Labor Director of the service company Bayer Business Services GmbH.
